Welcome to Babelflysch!

The Babelfish is a fictional animal, featured in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, that allows the user to make sense of everything said.

Babelflysch – this blog – is intended to make sense of the open source, free and shared geological software and resources spread around the web to a single point, in an attempt to:

  • aggregate what is availalble as alternates to the commercial solutions for geological sciences, and
  • create a portal to free and open resources and software for geoscientists without access to ‘brand’ software.

There is more information in ‘About’. The tabs in the banner will take you to the Software and Resource lists.

If you’ve taken the time to search through these pages, and know of another resource that really deserves to be here, your comments are very welcome.
